Let july be july…
I heard a song this morning that said “Let July be July” and it hit me in the middle of the forehead. Everything about those 4 words said…..knock it off. Just be, just enjoy, just sit, just love the warmth and live at the speed of nature.
What does it mean to live at the speed of nature you may be asking. This is a mentality of not being in the next moment until it arrives. Simply allow life to move forward, the sun to set, the kids can play and stay up a little late, and you do not need to be anywhere but where you are. Be in your moment, be inside of your book. Look out at the view, or up at the sky and allow your beautiful mind to wander.
I slowed down in that moment. I said more YESES this morning. We put up a lemonade stand, I laughed with the kids and my Mother in Law came over with donuts for the kids and we sat out on the back porch, had our coffee and chatted the way you should. Slowly, getting caught up and discussing storms, the crop that is being turned behind our home and if it will be a sunny week. This is how it should be.
Meanwhile in the background I hear my phone pinging. Texts. Lots of texts. We spend less time in front of each other and more and more time pinging each other because it is what we think we should do. Ping! Ping! Ping!
Maybe I will let July be July and stop texting and watch my kids be happy, and chat on the back patio and sip an iced coffee and let the day drift by. How many more days will I get like this one? None. This is the only day like this, and July is a month to let go.
